Who’s Doing the Doing Here?

We are commanded to be strong and courageous!  We are commanded not to fear or panic.  Does this picture look a little blurry here?  Well, you see I had to blur the things of this world so that the Word could be seen (John 3:30).  Many times we think we are the ones doing the doing, and while we are required to do the doing, we must remember that it’s not really us doing it at all.  We are simply the vessels God chose to use (2 Timothy 2:20).  Thank you, Jesus!

But this verse in the picture is from Deuteronomy, which isa collection of sermons from Moses.  What did Moses tell God when He called Him?  “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.”  Well, when we are told to

Go.

Heal the sick.

Cast out demons.

Raise the dead.

Make disciples.

We can rest assured that the Lord (wow) has actually ‘personally’ gone before us to pave the way and arrange the meetings and soften the hearts of those we are speaking with.  This is amazing, but if we can blur the picture of ourself doing the Word and imagine the Lord as the One behind our “staff”, we can have the faith to stretch out this seemingly ordinary staff to be used for the extraordinary.

I know today was late, but it must have been right on time for at least one of you as His timing is perfect!

So, let me know about some of your experiences where it was totally obvious where the God of the universe personally went before you?  If it’s too long to type up in an email, get it ready to share with the LifeTeam tomorrow!

PS – In light of what I’m sharing, we need to realized that these promises ARE to us and for us!  These are not just commands and promises to the men of old.  As we go through this Daily Word together, lets remember what Jesus said in Matthew 22:31 (“have you not read what was spoken to you by God”) and echoed in Hebrews 12;5 (“the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children”) and then again in 2 Peter 1:5 (“In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises”).
