Birthed by the Word.
Last night I spoke to the youth group at Living Waters and one of the things I said was that if someone is going to tell me that this part of the Bible no longer applies to us today I was pretty much going to shake the dust off my feet in a testimony against them. Why would we want to put up with doubt and unbelief?
Let’s examine this verse in James above.
It’s a pretty incredible statement, but being a man of words, I cannot say that it is incredible because that is a negative statement. What does incredible mean? Well, in means not and credible means it bears truth. So, while we are accustomed to saying “incredible” when something is amazing, we are really saying “It bears no truth”! Wow, we need to pay attention to words (Proverbs 18:21).
So James says that He gave birth to us with the Word. This is credible because it’s Bible but it’s amazing. I have a picture in my head. Do you remember in the old movie Back to the Future where they were looking at a picture and the people in the picture were either disappearing or reappearing depending on what was going on in the movie? This is how I see the individual Soldier of Christ and the Church as a whole. If we choose to take a part of the Word and say it is no longer applicable (without proof from the Scripture itself!), then we are literally erasing ourself! Think about this, if we were born again, from the Word, but then deny certain parts of the Word, we are denying ourselves and eventually will disappear.
Team, when I realized this Truth, it really set me on fire to
Go.
Heal the sick.
Cast out demons.
Raise the dead.
Make disciples.
Who will join me? Sign up for these outreaches and let’s make both history and disciples!
FYI – The prison commencement outreach must be signed up for ASAP (not necessarily through this website but with Jubilee so that we can get you approved with the warden to enter the proson). See that email for more details or email me if you need further directions.
PS – In light of what I’m sharing, we need to realized that these promises ARE to us and for us! These are not just commands and promises to the men of old. As we go through this Daily Word together, lets remember what Jesus said in Matthew 22:31 (“have you not read what was spoken to you by God”) and echoed in Hebrews 12;5 (“the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children”) and then again in 2 Peter 1:5 (“In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises”).
