An Instrument of Righteousness

We’ve all heard the term ‘weekend warrior’.  Right?  What does that mean?  In today’s society we usually take it to mean that we really like some particular thing like a certain sport or hobby and that we dedicate most of our weekends to the certain thing.  Golf, dirt bikes, camping, video games, etc.  But what have we been talking about here?  We have been saying the the Kingdom suffers violence but the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12).  We have talked about being called to

Go.

Heal the sick.

Cast out demons.

Raise the dead.

and how each one of these actions’ end result is to

Make disciples.

and therefore expand the Kingdom of God here on earth.  What do instruments have to do with this?  Interesting question!  Romans was written to a nation who was on a rampage to expand their own kingdom over the whole earth forcefully.  So when you mentioned an instrument to a Roman, their first thought was an ‘instrument of war’!  (2 Timothy 2:3-4)

So, let us, this weekend, be weekend warrior!  Go and conquer.  Take the people you run into this weekend for Christ.  Come back with the spoils of war, which are their very souls.

We read yesterday about feet and how God’s Armor was given to protect us.  Today, lace up your boots to protect your feet which are used to carry the rest of your body into war.  The shoes are the preparation to spread the message about peace, but the only way we can spread it is with our Sword, which is the Word of God.  Study this morning, get a Word from God for today.  Pray for it, believing that He will give you a supernatural Word that is relevant to you today but also those who He has prepared to meet you in the path He’s laid out for you to walk in today. I won’t keep you long on this Saturday morning because you have a huge task in front of you today.

PS – In light of what I’m sharing, we need to realized that these promises ARE to us and for us!  These are not just commands and promises to the men of old.  As we go through this Daily Word together, lets remember what Jesus said in Matthew 22:31 (“have you not read what was spoken to you by God”) and echoed in Hebrews 12;5 (“the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children”) and then again in 2 Peter 1:5 (“In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises”).
